What is the interest rate?

Because interest rates change so frequently, please email us regarding the current interest rate.

Must my rehab loan include improvement to the exterior portion of my property?

Yes. Improvements can be to the exterior of the home itself (e.g., roof, windows, siding, fascia, sofits, porch, paint, etc.) or to the landscaping. The loan may then include interior improvements.

Can I apply for a materials-only loan and do the labor myself?

Where does Neighborhoods Inc. get its funding?

Neighborhoods Inc. is a not-for-profit corporation and is financially supported by many corporate, municipal and private donors in the Calumet Region. It also receives federal HUD funding for certain projects. In addition, the members of Neighborhoods Inc.'s staff and Board of Directors contribute financially to Neighborhoods Inc.

How is Neighborhoods Inc. different from other Community Development Corporations?

Neighborhoods Inc. is dedicated to improving the neighborhoods of the Calumet Region. This mission cannot be realized without the inclusion of ALL income groups; therefore, our loans are not restricted to low- to-moderate income homeowners of the Calumet Region. Neighborhoods Inc. sponsors events within the neighborhoods for all residents. We sponsor block parties and neighborhood clubs to encourage neighborhood unity. We also contribute to the improvement of neighboring communities because we know that what is good for them is good for the Calumet Region.

Yes, Neighborhoods Inc. has three staff members fluent in Spanish. Email the instructor to apply for a Spanish-language class.
