We need volunteers!
The staff of Neighborhoods Inc. is committed to its unique mission. But we could not do it alone. We depend on our dedicated volunteers and various institutions to partner with us to continue Hammond's renaissance. These institutions include local businesses, schools, civic leaders, churches, associations, other not-for-profit organizations, government, and most importantly, our neighbors. Volunteers representing many community organizations have contributed more than 5000 hours to improve and enhance our service area. That's the equivalent of more than two full-time staff members.
Neighborhoods Inc. encourages volunteers, including students, retirees, and residents, to donate their time, effort and skills to assist Neighborhoods Inc. in making the Calumet Region a better place to work and live.
Volunteers have assisted in the following:
- Preparation of announcement mailings
- Distribution of flyers
- Phone calls
- Staffing at various community events
- Neighborhood surveys
- Database updating
- Research
- Beautification projects
- Fundraising
